Walgreens to close 1,200 stores as part of turnaround effort

Walgreens plans to close at least 1,200 stores over the next three years as the pharmacy giant seeks to reduce costs and turn around operations under a new leader.  One of the largest drugstore chains in the country, Walgreens said it was targeting 900 to 1,000 stores primarily across the U.S. by the end of fiscal year 2027, which is part of the company's "multi-year footprint optimization program."
