Group 1 - The core theme of the forum was "Empowering Cultural Heritage with Digital Technology," focusing on the digital preservation of the Dunhuang Caves and its impact on the international dissemination of traditional Chinese culture [1] - The Dunhuang Academy has developed a systematic workflow for digital preservation since proposing the concept of "Digital Dunhuang" in the 1990s, completing digital photography for 300 caves, image stitching for 200 caves, and creating panoramic tours for 169 caves by the end of 2024 [1] - The total area of murals collected amounts to 28,100 square meters, and the Academy has established a distributed storage system of 840TB along with an efficient digital asset management platform, setting a new standard for the management of world cultural heritage [1] Group 2 - The Dunhuang Academy, in collaboration with Tencent, launched the world's first blockchain-based digital cultural heritage open sharing platform, "Digital Dunhuang Open Material Library," which provides high-definition digital resources of Dunhuang sites to the public and researchers [2] - As of now, the platform has recorded 5.43 million visits, facilitating broader sharing and dissemination of digital resources [2] - The Academy also introduced the world's first super-temporal participatory museum, "Digital Cave of Scriptures," which uses gaming engines and high-definition scanning technology to recreate the Cave of Scriptures in a 1:1 scale, promoting global digital dissemination of Dunhuang culture through immersive experiences [2]
