Group 1 - The Japanese government is accelerating measures to attract talented researchers from abroad in response to the reduction of research funding by the Trump administration and the pressure on top academic institutions in the U.S. [1] - A fund of up to 10 trillion yen will be utilized to provide emergency financial support for domestic universities and research institutions to recruit overseas talent [1] - The Japanese government aims to ensure that top researchers can shift their primary research activities to Japan by offering competitive treatment comparable to that in the U.S. [1] Group 2 - Osaka University has established a special fund of 600 million yen to accept up to 100 PhD holders, while Ritsumeikan University has raised over 500 million yen to accept up to 100 international students and 16 young researchers [2] - Tokyo University of Foreign Studies will provide free online Japanese language courses for all overseas researchers accepted by Japanese universities to help them adapt to life and research in Japan [2]
