Group 1 - Uganda has successfully received the first batch of 9 Jianzhou Big-eared sheep from China under the South-South Cooperation project with the FAO [1] - The Jianzhou Big-eared sheep, a hybrid of Nubian goats and local Sichuan goats, is a new meat sheep breed developed in China, known for its large size, fast growth, high reproduction rate, and good meat production [1] - The imported sheep will undergo a 21-day quarantine before being sent to the agricultural research development center in Mbarara, Uganda, for breed improvement and promotion [1] Group 2 - Since 2012, China has sent nearly 60 experts and technicians to Uganda under the South-South Cooperation project, assisting in various agricultural sectors including grains, livestock, aquaculture, horticulture, and machinery [2] - The introduction of Jianzhou Big-eared sheep is expected to enhance Uganda's sheep meat and milk production, increase exports, and improve farmers' income [1][2] - Future collaboration between China and Uganda will focus on breeding technology, forage cultivation, and the sheep meat food industry chain [2]
