Group 1 - The new national standard stipulates that the maximum weight for lithium battery electric bicycles is 55 kilograms, while for lead-acid battery models, the weight has increased from 55 kilograms to 63 kilograms to enhance the range of the vehicles [3][5] - To ensure traffic safety, the new standard includes improved anti-tampering requirements for controllers, where the motor will no longer provide power if the speed exceeds 25 kilometers per hour [5] - Manufacturers are required to improve braking performance, reducing the braking distance by half and ensuring no skidding during rainy conditions [7] Group 2 - The new standard mandates that the proportion of plastic materials in the overall vehicle weight must not exceed 5.5%, aimed at reducing fire risks, and encourages the installation of rearview mirrors to minimize the need for looking back [9] - Electric bicycles are required to have Beidou positioning functionality, although private electric bicycles can choose not to install the Beidou module, and even if installed, the functionality can be turned off. The Beidou positioning service is free [12] - Starting from September 1, all newly produced electric bicycles must comply with the new standards. However, existing bicycles will not be forced to be eliminated and can continue to be used or exchanged for new ones [15]
