US stocks notched fresh records on Monday, as Wall Street trod cautiously but largely looked past concerns over Federal Reserve independence after US prosecutors opened a criminal investigation into Chair Jerome Powell. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) rose 0.2% to close at an all-time high. The S&P 500 (^GSPC) gained 0.2% to also notch a fresh record. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) added 0.3%.
