Major UK banks expected to lift profitability targets – report

Several of the UK’s largest banks, including HSBC and NatWest, are preparing to increase their profitability forecasts as they issue annual results in the coming weeks, reported Reuters citing sources. HSBC is expected to raise its return on tangible equity (ROTE) guidance, which currently stands at “mid teens or better.” NatWest is also estimated to be considering a revision of its 2027 ROTE target from the present 15% up to 17%, according to the unnamed sources.
