Group 1 - The core project "MWh-level Liquid Metal Battery Medium and Long-term Energy Storage Technology" has been launched, led by Southern Power Grid Energy Storage Company in collaboration with several universities and companies [1] - Liquid metal battery technology is emerging as a significant force in the energy storage sector, with substantial potential for medium and long-term applications [1] - The project aims to address key challenges in the application of MWh-level liquid metal batteries, focusing on fundamental theories, key materials, and core technology development [1] Group 2 - The project will work on breakthroughs in low-cost, long-life liquid metal battery materials, including low-temperature material design and complex interface control [1] - It will also focus on large-capacity battery construction and packaging insulation technologies, as well as analyzing service characteristics and failure mechanisms of battery storage applications [1] - The initiative aims to achieve efficient integration and application of MWh-level battery storage systems, along with assessing the economic viability of battery recycling and lifecycle [1]
