Band's Origin and Mission - The Red and Black Brass Band was formed in late March 2020 by Benjamin Kaisberg and Dominique Burton [1] - The band played over 100 times in 6 months, walked over 100 miles, and played over 1,000 hours in St Louis neighborhoods to heal the city [1] - The band's mission was to spread joy through music [1] Impact of Music - Music therapy can help relax, reduce anxiety and depression, and ease stress levels [1] - The band received feedback that their music prevented suicidal thoughts and lifted spirits after a family member's death [1] - Hearing impaired people felt the power of the band's music [1] Band's Growth and Community - The band has grown as artists and individuals in 5 years [2] - The band uses empathy to create community and encourages each other with constant effort and daily practice [2] - The band members are part of the FU Alpha Symphonia Music Fraternity of America, which bonded them together [3]
