Adding or removing filtering doesn't give the government any more or less control than they've had throughout the history of Bitcoin.Tightening down data size where possible at the consensus level, helps reduce the filtering needs in the first places, and reduces arbitrary-data attack surfaces, plus it helps focus Bitcoin on monetary use, and helps node runners. ...
