Core Viewpoint - Chinese scientists have made significant progress in the field of lithium battery polymer electrolytes, providing new ideas and technical support for the development of practical high-safety, high-energy-density solid-state lithium batteries [1][4]. Group 1: Challenges in Solid-State Batteries - Solid-state batteries currently face two main challenges: poor interface contact due to rigid contact between solid-solid materials, and the difficulty of the electrolyte to simultaneously accommodate high-voltage cathodes and highly reducing anodes in extreme chemical environments [2]. Group 2: Research Breakthroughs - The research team proposed a new strategy called "anionic solvent structure design," successfully developing a novel fluorinated polyether electrolyte. This electrolyte enhances the physical contact and ionic conductivity at the solid-state interface, significantly improving the high-voltage performance and interface stability of lithium batteries [4]. - The polymer battery assembled with this electrolyte demonstrated excellent electrochemical performance, achieving an energy density of 604Wh/kg under 1MPa external pressure, which far exceeds current commercial batteries [4]. - The battery also passed safety tests, including puncture and exposure to a 120°C heat chamber for 6 hours without combustion or explosion, showcasing outstanding safety performance [4]. Group 3: Future Implications - The research findings are expected to provide important technical references for the development of mature solid-state battery products in the future [4].
