US equity funds see outflows on geopolitical worries

Group 1 - U.S. equity funds experienced net outflows of $5.26 billion in the week through January 21, reversing part of the previous week's net purchases of approximately $28.17 billion [1] - Concerns over President Trump's tariff threats against European nations contributed to the reduction in risk exposure among investors [1] - U.S. large-cap, small-cap, and mid-cap funds recorded net outflows of $12.94 billion, $2.1 billion, and $1.21 billion, respectively [2] Group 2 - Sector funds saw a net inflow of $3.3 billion, with financials, metals and mining, and healthcare leading the way with net purchases of $1.5 billion, $904 million, and $615 million, respectively [2] - Weekly net investments in U.S. bond funds decreased to a three-week low of $5.9 billion, with short-to-intermediate investment-grade funds attracting a net $3.05 billion, a 44% increase from the previous week [3] - Money market funds faced a second consecutive week of outflows, with a net withdrawal of $34.93 billion [4]
