Geopolitical Risk & Policy - The Trump administration's State Department, National Security Council, and intelligence services are operating with limited insight into Brazil due to a lack of access to internal USAID files [1] - Accessing and reviewing USAID files on a country-by-country basis in critical regions with contentious foreign relations is crucial for informed policy-making [2] - Publicly releasing as much of the reviewed USAID files as possible, as soon as possible, is recommended [2] Historical Context - Understanding the history of "fuckery" (potential past misdeeds or problematic actions) is necessary for formulating smart and tailored policy towards Brazil [1]

With @nataliegwinters, I once again stressed to the Trump admin that the USAID Files must be accessed, reviewed on a country by country basis in the critical regions where foreign relations are most contentious, then publicly released as much as possible, as soon as possible https://t.co/9lHVdSzqPr ...

The most important thing the State Department can do right now is access and then make public the USAID Files.
