Group 1 - The customs office at Kribi port in Cameroon has been upgraded to a full-functioning institution, allowing it to handle all customs procedures related to imports and exports for the Central African Republic [1] - The office will now be responsible for pre-assessing customs duties on all goods imported through Kribi port, including determining tax amounts and preparing necessary documentation for customs clearance [1] - The upgrade aims to enhance data management for goods flowing in and out of the Central African Republic, ensure traceability of customs processes, and improve information exchange between the customs departments of Cameroon and the Central African Republic [1] Group 2 - The upgrade of the Kribi office is expected to support the Central African Republic in achieving its budget goals for 2025, with projected customs revenue of 70.2 billion Central African Francs (approximately 1.17 million USD) [2] - In 2023, the Central African Republic imported 58,400 tons of goods valued at 34 billion Central African Francs, making it Cameroon’s third-largest African customer, although it did not rank among the top ten suppliers [2]
