Group 1 - Shanghai Xinhai Feng Container Transportation Co., Ltd. has upgraded the Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port-Vietnam-Malaysia direct shipping route (CVM2) by adding Brunei Muara Port, enhancing the connectivity of the shipping line [1][3] - The newly launched route will allow goods to travel from Beibu Gulf Port in Qinzhou to Brunei Muara Port in approximately 10 days, facilitating trade [3] - The first shipment on this route included nearly 3,000 tons of cement destined for the expansion project of the container terminal at Muara Port, which is crucial for the project's successful completion [3] Group 2 - The expansion project at Muara Port is set to officially commence in August 2024 and is expected to be completed by the end of August 2027, with significant construction activities currently underway [3] - The project aims to enhance the port's trade zone development, improve cargo handling and logistics capabilities, and strengthen Brunei's competitiveness as a gateway to the ASEAN eastern growth area [3] - The stable operation of the new shipping route is anticipated to boost trade between China and Brunei, particularly in fruits, fish products, and aluminum products, supporting the "port-industry-park" model in Brunei [4]
