'There is no limit': Ex-DHS official warns Trumpโ€™s whole-of-government revenge tour wonโ€™t stop
MSNBCยท 2025-10-23 01:05
We're ready to take this head on. And you know, as Norm and others on set there with you know, we made a very conscious decision. My family made a decision to fight back against this because we knew that if we didn't, it would make it that much easier to go after people. So, we're ready for this fight. But that said, I think it's really important to give people the insight into what it's like. Not so that they have personal sympathy for me, but so that they understand how replicable this is to other people.A ...
Top Oversight Dem: Trump is using DOJ as โ€˜own personal vendetta force'
MSNBCยท 2025-10-11 00:42
Well, I mean, it's it's clearly uh very disturbing. This is Donald Trump's revenge tour and and we're worried also for what's next. I we've been communicating with Senator Schiff, for example, from from my home state of California.Uh and this idea that you have the president essentially turning the Department of Justice into his own personal vendetta force where he goes out for anyone that he believes has wronged him. It is highly, highly disturbing. This is something that every single American should be co ...
โ€˜Revenge tit-for-tatโ€™: Why Trumpโ€™s retribution campaign is a slippery slope for American politics
MSNBCยท 2025-09-27 22:40
Case Strength & Legality - The case against Comey is potentially weak due to a former US attorney with Republican ties declining to bring charges and an inspector general report finding Comey credible [3] - The involvement of political appointees alone in the grand jury indictment process raises concerns about the case's integrity [4] - Legal malpractice is a potential risk, especially considering the US attorney with no prosecution experience seeking the indictment [8] - Selective prosecution is a concern, suggesting the case might be biased against an individual for their beliefs or lawful actions [17] - Only 14 out of 23 grand jurors voted to indict on two counts, with a third count declined, further indicating a lack of consensus [15] Political Implications & Justice System - Concerns exist that the prosecution is driven by revenge and could set a precedent for future administrations to target political enemies [6][10] - The Department of Justice is potentially being used as a tool to target critics or those who have investigated or prosecuted the president [19] - There's a fear that the current actions could lead to a vicious cycle of revenge and tit-for-tat prosecutions in future administrations [11] Evidence & Credibility - The case appears to be a "he said, he said" situation between Comey and McCabe, with McCabe's statements not necessarily contradicting Comey's [13][14] - The inspector general's finding of a lack of candor by Andrew McCabe raises questions about his credibility as a witness [22]
'Part of disturbing pattern': Rep. Raskin reacts to FBI search on Bolton
MSNBCยท 2025-08-22 17:41
Allegations of Political Retaliation - The report suggests the search of John Bolton's home and office aligns with a pattern of actions against him, potentially motivated by political retribution [3][4] - The report mentions concerns that FBI resources are being diverted from fighting terrorism, drug trafficking, and federal crime to pursue perceived political enemies [10] - The report indicates the dismantling of units within the FBI and DOJ that were set up to protect against foreign interference in American elections [11] Concerns Regarding Justice Department Independence - The report raises concerns about the independence of the Justice Department, suggesting it may be subordinate to the president [7][8] - The report mentions the removal of January 6th prosecutors, raising questions about political influence within the DOJ [8][9] - The report highlights the administration's stance on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, suggesting a potential shift in enforcement [11] Trump's Statements and Actions - The report references Trump's statement about not wanting to be briefed on law enforcement actions, raising questions about his involvement and knowledge [6] - The report mentions Trump calling himself the "chief law enforcement officer," which is described as a radical departure from tradition [7]
Charlie Munger Explains Why Self-Pity Ruins Lives #trading #investing
GuruFocusยท 2025-08-06 10:00
Behavioral Biases - Self-serving bias can lead to detrimental financial decisions, such as overspending income [1] - Envy, resentment, revenge, and self-pity are identified as disastrous modes of thought, potentially impacting decision-making [1] - Self-pity is closely related to paranoia, which can negatively affect judgment [1]
