RT 𝕂𝕣𝕪𝕡𝕥𝕠𝕞𝕚𝕔𝕦𝕤 {{𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕥𝕤}} (@kryptomicus)[🧵8/16] what about OP_RETURN?like a memo on a paper check, a small amount of auxiliary data is legitimate for a transaction.the check is not the money just like the transaction is not the bitcoin.they are the means of exchange. ...

RT BitMEX Research (@BitMEXResearch)OP_Return2 - OverviewWith intense debates over the default OP_Return relay limit continuing, some have suggested OP_Return2 as a potential solution. We have summarised our understanding of OP_Return2 below.OP_Return2 is a new proposed transaction output, that contains a hash commitment to up to 8MB of arbitrary data, but the arbitrary data itself is not required by nodes to check if a block is valid. Therefore full nodes and miners do not need to validate, propagate or st ...

RT Jimmy Song (송재준) (@jimmysong)Within the datacarriersize/OP_RETURN change is hidden a change to how many OP_RETURN outputs are allowed. Previously, it was 1. With the datacarriersize change, it's now as many as the user wants. The technical justification for multiple OP_RETURNs now being standard is completely unconvincing. To quote @theinstagibbs:"The motivation for doing this is for situations where you cannot commit to all data efficiently otherwise. Think SIGHASH_SINGLE | ACP scenarios. The datacarrier ...

RT Asher Hopp (@AsherHopp)Its been 18 hours since someone pushed this valid transaction with a full jpeg in op_return. For most of those 18 hours, the fee rate was sufficient for it to be considered "next block."But it hasn't been mined yet. The reason it hasn't been mined is because of filters, which bCore v30 will disable.Bitcoin Core maintainers feel that it is essential to quickly mine this jpeg, and that somehow filtering it is "bad" for mempool topology and will degrade Bitcoin services. Have you noti ...

How the Economic Machine Works Part 2
Principles by Ray Dalio· 2025-08-26 13:21
Economic Principles - Productivity growth, driven by innovation and hard work, is the primary driver of rising living standards over time [1] - Credit's impact is more significant in the short term due to its ability to create economic swings, allowing consumption to exceed production temporarily [2] - Borrowing is essentially pulling spending forward, creating a future obligation to spend less than one earns to repay the debt, thus forming a cycle [5][6] Credit and Debt Dynamics - Credit differs from money; money settles transactions immediately, while credit creates an asset and a liability, representing a promise to pay in the future [7] - The total amount of credit in the United States is approximately $50 trillion, significantly exceeding the total amount of money, which is about $3 trillion [8] - Credit is beneficial when it finances productive investments that generate income to repay the debt, but detrimental when it funds overconsumption that cannot be sustained [10] Economic Cycles - Economic swings are primarily influenced by the availability of credit, not by fluctuations in innovation or hard work [4] - Borrowing sets in motion a predictable series of events, making understanding credit crucial for anticipating future economic outcomes [6] - An economy with credit experiences increased spending and faster income growth than productivity in the short run, but this is unsustainable in the long run [9] Example of Credit Amplification - An individual earning $100,000 annually can borrow $10,000, enabling them to spend $110,000, which in turn becomes another person's income [11][12]
