I'm so ready for these L1/L2/L-whatever categories to go away.Literally doesn't matter and just leads to alignment bickering. They're all just chains.Steven Goldfeder (@sgoldfed):Every 6-8 months, the crypto community rotates between whether it’s cooler to be an L1 or an L2.Glad to report that we’ve officially entered the L2 rotation. ...

RT Michael Silberling (@MSilb7)4 years later and I finally experienced the benefits of an "L2 secured by Ethereum."I had ETH stuck on OP Mainnet in @coinbase's web3 mpc wallet for almost 3 years. I was waiting for OP Mainnet support, it never came, and now the product is sunsetting.I made a last ditch effort to try to send an L1 transaction that triggered an ETH transfer from my CB web3 wallet to a normal wallet on L2, and... IT WORKED ...

"MegaETH has meme'd the fast big box thing, but empirically all the other L2s are doing the same thing."Nah dawg @jon_charbThe difference won't be, and isn't already, the "same thing" either empirically or logically.Full transaction lifecycle will always be orders of magnitude faster than chains with consensus (L1s).Throughput will always be orders of magnitude higher than chains bound by Ethereum DA (rollups). We're making very deliberate design-decisions that separate us from the field on both of these fro ...
