RT Olivier (@ODesenfans)@Austin_Federa @megaeth_labs Starknet just took a meaningful step in the right direction here, and honestly if Stripe/Paradigm can build a high-performance EVM L1 they certainly can build an L2 with a decentralized sequencer set.I don’t think the tech is the issue here. ...

Good question. My take on this is centered around the core idea of a blockchain being purpose-built vs. "general purpose" in nature. With Plasma as an example, the chain has:- gas-free usdt transfers- specific consensus mechanism for anti-spam- uses bitcoin for security rather than ethereumThese are small things from the outside, but when you get lower level in the stack you realize they are mega differentiators.Tempo has opt-in privacy, stablecoin gas fees, a better UX meant for payments. These things matter. ...

payments chainsI am not an expert on payments, but I have worked in 3/5 of the big banks in Canada, as well as several fintechs building payments rails and moving a lot of money with code — and most recently on high-perf chainswhich is to say I have some opinions on the concept of a high-perf chain for paymentsthis will be a long post so I suggest clicking the grok button on the top rightfirst, how can a blockchain have a payments focus in the first place?in the past, there have been several approachesone i ...

Tempo's Core Principles - Tempo aims to be a permissionless chain, allowing anyone to deploy tokens and transact from day one [1] - The network plans for permissionless validation, smart contract deployment, and usage, similar to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, starting with a permissioned validator set for initial operation and gradual decentralization [2] - Tempo will incorporate features to facilitate compliance for entities interacting with the blockchain while maintaining base layer neutrality [3] Rationale for L1 - A decentralized validator set is deemed necessary for global payments to ensure neutrality and foster trust among numerous partners [5] - Building on L1 provides more independence and reduces dependencies on Ethereum L1's progress [6] - Prioritizes fast finality, multiple validators, and custom transaction lanes and gas pricing, which might be complex or slow to implement on an L2 [7] Vision and Goals - The goal is to onboard mainstream entities onto permissionless crypto rails for specific payments needs [4] - The project focuses on building the right product for crypto payments, avoiding crypto tribalism [6] - The company supports permissionless crypto, including Ethereum L1 scaling, L2s, and Bitcoin as a monetary asset, aiming to facilitate real-world payment flows on crypto rails [8]

Layer-1 Blockchain Development - Tempo chose to build a Layer-1 (L1) blockchain instead of an Ethereum Layer-2 (L2) [1] - Tempo believes a decentralized validator set is a necessary requirement for partners to ensure credible neutrality [1] - Tempo will be a permissionless chain, allowing anyone to deploy a token and transact on the chain from day one [1] Permissionless Access - The project aims to attract real-world usage and serious institutions without giving up on permissionlessness [1]

Liquidity Deployment & Coordination - Arbitrum drip is not an airdrop, but a synchronized liquidity deployment across 17 protocols [1] - $156 million was captured in 24 hours through coordinated stacking, preventing cannibalization [1] - This coordination model is becoming a template for every Layer 2 (L2) solution [1] Protocol Dynamics - Morpho signals fluid when utilization spikes above 90%, maintaining system equilibrium [1] - The model addresses the failure of isolated incentives [1]
