I agree email spammers will keep adapting. But I don’t know if a typical poster will keep morphing their content in such a way.Rudraj Mehta (@RudrajMehta):@balajis It’ll be a constant camouflage-predator race though..the better tools we’ll have for slop detection, the better LLMs will keep getting at generating more human-like slop.. ...

Usually, it’s obvious what threads are and aren’t AI-written.But some people can’t tell the difference between normal writing and AI writing. And because they can’t tell the difference, they’ll either overuse AI…or accuse others of using AI!What we actually may need are built-in statistical AI detectors for every public text field. Paste in a URL into an archive.is-like interface and get back the probability that any div on the page is AI-generated.In general my view is that AI text shouldn’t be used raw. I ...

The Internet is indeed ideologically descended from American libertarianism (and progressivism). But demographically, it has very heavy influence from Asian Americans as well as Asia in general. And from all the other demographics that preponderate in tech, from Persians to Eastern Europeans. From your list: Russians (Yandex, Vkontakt, Telegram) and Chinese (both diasporic and PRC) have had an enormous influence on the Internet, arguably more than the British in recent years. The Dutch did via ASML but not In ...

As you go from British common law to the American constitution to Internet encryption, you get stronger protections on freedom of speech. And the actual battle over freedom of speech over the last decade wasn’t actually waged over the First Amendment (whose text remained unchanged) but over how Internet services would in practice moderate the speech of billions, most of whom were not American. That was really a struggle at the level of the international network, as opposed to the nation state.Andrew Benson (@ ...

Economic Outlook - The Internet sector, encompassing AI, robotics, and drones, shows positive growth and collaboration [1] - Much of the non-Internet US economy is struggling, becoming reliant on Federal Reserve monetary policy and government support [1] Post-2008 Financial Crisis Impact - Many non-Internet companies have become "zombies" due to dependence on Fed printing and state intervention [1]

The deep point is: the Internet is not the same as America.Every graph shows that the Internet is economically competitive. But America minus the Internet is not.Holger Zschaepitz (@Schuldensuehner):OUCH! The S&P 493 – that’s the S&P 500 excl “Magnificent 7” – is expected to deliver just 2-3% net income growth in Q2, Q3, and Q4. That’s slower than inflation, meaning most of the market is barely growing in real terms. Measured against this, US equities are quite expensive! https://t.co/aoyWzRI2LN ...

@eastdakota What are your thoughts? If users couldn't delegate their actions to AI agents, and all agent traffic was forbidden by robots.txt, then agents wouldn't be able to log in on behalf of users & perform actions.Perhaps robots.txt should get a new section for AI agents. ...

AI Agent & Web Traffic - Perplexity argues that AI agents are extensions of human users and should not be treated as bots when making HTTP requests [1] - Perplexity's requests are functionally made at the user's direction [1] Cloudflare & Bot Detection - The document references a rebuttal to Cloudflare regarding the treatment of AI agent traffic [1]
