"im convinced that none of the L2s are pro ethereum. if given a chance in future, they will pivot to an L1 and we will see base doing so as well."Unless your structural advantage is derived explicitly from not being an L1 (i.e. having a validator set with consensus). It's counter-intuitive, but the least "aligned" chains (i.e. validiums/optimiums) by current metrics are very likely the most ride-or-die so long as Ethereum maintains its core ideology (decentralization). If Ethereum gives in to performance to t ...

Technology & Infrastructure - Ethereum's EVM is the core technology [1] - Ethereum operates on Layer 1 (L1) and some Layer 2s (L2s) [1] Financial Perspective - ETH is viewed as equity [1] - Highly liquid public equities function as currencies and stores of value [1]

Good question. My take on this is centered around the core idea of a blockchain being purpose-built vs. "general purpose" in nature. With Plasma as an example, the chain has:- gas-free usdt transfers- specific consensus mechanism for anti-spam- uses bitcoin for security rather than ethereumThese are small things from the outside, but when you get lower level in the stack you realize they are mega differentiators.Tempo has opt-in privacy, stablecoin gas fees, a better UX meant for payments. These things matter. ...

payments chainsI am not an expert on payments, but I have worked in 3/5 of the big banks in Canada, as well as several fintechs building payments rails and moving a lot of money with code โ€” and most recently on high-perf chainswhich is to say I have some opinions on the concept of a high-perf chain for paymentsthis will be a long post so I suggest clicking the grok button on the top rightfirst, how can a blockchain have a payments focus in the first place?in the past, there have been several approachesone i ...
