Core Viewpoint - The Future Network Experimental Facility, China's first national major scientific and technological infrastructure in the information and communication sector, has officially been launched and is now operational, marking a significant advancement in the country's network technology innovation and application capabilities [1][4]. Group 1: Project Overview - The Future Network Experimental Facility covers 40 cities nationwide, featuring 88 backbone network nodes and 133 edge network nodes, with a total optical transmission length exceeding 55,000 kilometers [3][5]. - The facility can support 4,096 heterogeneous business parallel experiments and is capable of interconnecting with existing domestic and international networks [3][5]. - Data transmission through the facility is efficient, high-speed, low-latency, and low-jitter, with a packet loss rate of only one in a million [3][5]. Group 2: Development and Achievements - The project was included in the national major scientific and technological infrastructure construction plan in 2013, led by the Jiangsu Future Network Innovation Research Institute in collaboration with Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, and Shenzhen Institute of Information and Communication [5]. - As of August 2024, the facility has completed 120 major innovative experiments, serving national research institutions, telecom operators, universities, and leading enterprises, with research topics including core chips, network operating systems, routing control, security, large-scale networking, and new AI services [6].
