Core Insights - The "Strait Heart, Continuing Cultural Heritage" practice team from Jimei University conducted a field study on the current status of cross-strait Spring Festival customs and intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in Xiamen, Zhangzhou, and Quanzhou from January 16 to 18, 2026, aiming to connect experts, ICH inheritors, Taiwanese youth, and cultural workers [1][2][4][7][17] - The team created cultural IPs "Chun Zai Nan" and "Zhuang Yuan Nian" by integrating cross-strait ICH elements, promoting the revitalization of ICH through youthful creativity, and building a bridge for cultural empathy between the two sides [1][13][17] Group 1: Research Activities - The team visited key cultural sites in Xiamen, including the Xiamen Museum and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, to explore the similarities in Spring Festival customs and traditional craftsmanship between the two sides [2][4] - In Zhangzhou, the team focused on the national-level ICH of Zhangzhou puppet theater, engaging with local artisans and experiencing the craftsmanship firsthand, which highlighted the shared cultural roots of puppet carving techniques [4][5][11] - The team also visited Quanzhou, examining ICH projects such as Gezi Opera and Liyuan Opera, and discussing the historical connections and contemporary practices of cross-strait cultural cooperation [7][9][10] Group 2: Cultural Exchange and Innovation - The practice team engaged in dialogues with over ten Taiwanese experts and ICH inheritors, emphasizing the importance of ICH as a shared civilizational heritage that should be innovated and co-developed through exchanges [9][10] - The team developed a series of cultural products and expression packs based on the newly created IPs, aiming to integrate ICH into daily life and foster emotional connections among youth from both sides [13][17] - The discussions highlighted the role of youth in cultural transmission and the need for innovative approaches to ensure the vitality of ICH, with a focus on digital technology and design thinking [10][11]
