The attacks on Europe I've seen here the last couple of days, including from people I've generally considered interesting and sophisticated, have been getting unhinged...I get that EU has problems - GDPR clickthroughs are dumb, Chat Control is awful, they need to be less bureaucratic and supportive toward entrepreneurs, its kindness toward Ukraine often doesn't extend well to Gaza or Sudan or other places, people saying mean things about criminals getting longer sentences than the criminals is just crazy - ...

For years, I've complained internally at the EF that we do not have enough expertise at p2p: we think a lot about cryptoeconomics, BFT consensus and blocks, but we take the p2p networking layer for granted.I think that's no longer true, and PeerDAS shows it.@raulvk and others at EF have done heroic work both at making PeerDAS work so smoothly, and at setting up a roadmap that increases propagation speed, resilience, and network-layer privacy at the same time. Excited to see this work keep moving forward. ...

Security & Privacy Concerns - Hardware-based attestation may cause official X app and banking apps to stop working, especially for users of systems like GrapheneOS [1] - Hardware attestation is a significant problem for the Internet, despite progress in open internet, code, protocols, and file formats [1] Technology & Infrastructure - The issue stems from hardware-based attestation, a technology that many users are unaware of [1]

Market Need & Solution - The industry needs a trustless onchain gas futures market, similar to a prediction market on BASEFEE [1] - An onchain gas futures market would provide a clear signal of future gas fee expectations [1] - It would also allow users to hedge against future gas prices, effectively prepaying for gas [1] Underlying Concerns - There are concerns about future gas fees, despite current low fees [1] - Doubts exist regarding the long-term impact of increasing gas limits from BAL, ePBS, and ZK-EVM on maintaining low fees [1]

We need a good trustless onchain gas futures market.(Like, a prediction market on the BASEFEE)I've heard people ask: "today fees are low, but what about in 2 years? You say they'll stay low because of increasing gaslimit from BAL + ePBS + later ZK-EVM, but do I believe you?"An onchain gas futures market would help solve this: people would get a clear signal of people's expectations of future gas fees, and would even be able to hedge against future gas prices, effectively prepaying for any specific quantity ...

Government Policy & Regulation - Fuel economy standards implemented by the Obama administration had the unintended consequence of encouraging the production of larger vehicles [1] - The current political system employs complex methods instead of a simple tax per liter of fuel to account for environmental costs [1] - Policy should clearly communicate what consumers/the market should optimize for and its importance, rather than dictating how to optimize [1] Market Trends & Consumer Behavior - Sedans have become less popular, with a shift towards larger vehicles [1] - The three largest US automakers offer 62 vehicles for sale [2]

RT Kev.Ξth (@owocki)NEW POD @vitalikbuterin on the @greenpillnet podcast for a year-end deep dive into public goods funding in the @Ethereum ecosystem.Thx @devanshmehta for co-hosting. We discuss how the landscape has shifted from “vibes-based” funding to verifiable, dependency-driven mechanisms, and why this is the best moment to reform PGF using new tools like programmable cryptography, AI-assisted evaluation, and deep funding models.Vitalik shares how he thinks about dependencies, credible neutrality, op ...

RT terence (@terencechain)Shipping Fusaka and scaling blobs are big deal, but the part that doesn’t get enough credit is that we set out to ship TWO complicated forks this year & pulled it off.Massive effort from client teams, EF, and the community. New mindset, strong execution all around ...

My rough math based on average difficulty stats suggests that Bitcoin mining crossed the total 2**96 hashes milestone very recently?Seems like a good reason to insist on (close to) 128 bit security (ie. @drakefjustin was right) https://t.co/zrwtbdnan3 ...
