Core Insights - The Shenzhen Metro Group has integrated muon imaging technology into the construction processes of multiple metro and intercity railway lines, providing innovative methods for underground exploration and disaster prevention in rail construction [1][2] Group 1: Technology Overview - Muon imaging utilizes high-energy muons from cosmic rays, which can penetrate rock and metal, revealing underground structures [1] - The technology is characterized by strong penetration capabilities and high spatial resolution, allowing for imaging based on the absorption differences of muons in various geological densities [1] Group 2: Application and Development - The application of muon imaging technology was initiated due to challenges faced during the construction of the Shenzhen Metro Line 16, where traditional drilling methods were insufficient for deep geological exploration [2] - The project team developed the first muon imaging device for tunnel construction after extensive research and multiple design iterations, successfully completing the device within six months [2] - As of now, muon imaging technology has been applied in the construction processes of Shenzhen Metro Lines 15, 16, and 22, as well as the Shenzhen-Huizhou and Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity railways, completing a total of 4,190 meters of tunnel detection and accurately identifying 57 weak geological areas [2]
