Apple's new Airpods Pro 3 now has a heart rate monitor as part of their fitness tracking.
The Verge· 2025-09-09 17:36
heart rate sensing during workouts with AirPods Pro 3. To do this, we custom built Apple's smallest heart rate sensor. Machine learning algorithms fuse together data from the sensors and accelerometers to deliver precise measurements. This is combined with a new ondevice AI model for activity and calorie tracking trained from more than 50 million hours of data from the Apple Heart and Movement Study, which is one of the largest studies of its kind with more than 250,000 participants. ...

The Verge· 2025-09-06 15:00
This is Anker's Soundcore Nebula X1 Pro. It's a portable Dolby Atmos audio projector with 4K laser projection and 7.1%.4 spatial sound. And it sounds pretty amazing.I'm listening to it from the four portable speakers that you can place around it or you can use on the projector itself. These are wireless speakers and they have 8 hours of battery life in each one. The device also has microphones inside so you can use it as a karaoke machine. It's going to launch on Kickstarter later this month for $3,000, but ...

Do you want this wild-looking robot vacuum climbing around your house? #Vergecast
The Verge· 2025-09-05 19:52
a stair climbing robot. >> What are we talking about here. Legs, treads, >> treads. And they basically fold their sort of arms out from the body and turn into tracks and then track track up the stairs. So it went up like nine stairs. Um and then stopped, turned around and came down.>> That's almost a whole flight of stairs. >> But the way it works is instead of it actually being a robot vacuum, it's just a robot. And the robot vacuum gets into it and gets carried up.So, it's like a stairlift for your robot v ...
Here's a look at the Lenovo ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept at IFA 2025.
The Verge· 2025-09-05 18:23
Lenovo has made laptop screens that can roll, flip, and go transparent. And now for EA 2025, it's made one that can rotate into portrait mode. The Lenovo ThinkBook Vertiflex concept is a pretty standard 14-in productivity laptop when it comes to specs, but the whole display can rotate 90° within its chassis to give you a better view for documents, coding, or general doom scrolling.screen is easy enough to rotate into landscape mode with one hand, but pulling it up into portrait mode is tricky unless you hav ...
The Verge’s senior smart home reviewer, Jennifer Tuohy, played tennis with the Acemate tennis robot.
The Verge· 2025-09-04 18:00
This is the Acemate tennis robot. It costs $2,500 and it will teach you how to be a better tennis player. It uses AI and cameras to track you across the court, play with you or play against you, and also can turn into a coach for you and give you analysis of your swing and your shot rate. And it did that for me and it was a little embarrassing. So, here's a summary. Your data shows one very clear primary issue, consistency and control.Your average net clearance is 0.94%. Dangerously low. Extremely inconsiste ...
Dreame's new robot Cyber X took on a staircase at Europe’s largest home and electronics exhibit.
The Verge· 2025-09-04 17:13
Behind me is Dreamy's Cyber X. It is a quad track stair climbing robot. It is like a mini stairlift for Dreamy's robot vacuum. The robot vacuum goes into the Cyber X and then is transported up or down the stairs using the Quad Track for ARM system. It's quite slow. It takes a while to get its arms going and up on the stairs, but once it gets moving on the stairs, it's quite fast. It's quite interesting, quite fun to see it do do its thing. I'm not sure how practical it is, though, really. ...

The Verge· 2025-09-02 19:00
variant sedoku turns it up to 11. So you might have extra graphics in the grid. There might be a thermometer wending its way through the grid and you'll have to increase uh the digits along the thermometer from the bulb end. We've got puzzles now where there's a rat in the grid that has to get to a cupcake going along certain pathways. When did sudoku puzzles stop being designed by humans? #vergecast
The Verge· 2025-09-02 17:13
Were they always like that. Well, I mean, originally the puzzle was invented in Japan uh by uh a company there called Nicoli, which is a wonderful place of innovation and all of their puzzles are handmade. But when the puzzle came to the west, it was Wayne Gould originally, I think, a New Zealander who in invented a computer program that could just churn out zillions and zillions of puzzles and he managed to sell it to many of the newspapers in the western world. And so it just became accepted that, you know ...
Testing Framework's 240 watt charger
The Verge· 2025-09-02 14:38
Today I'm toying with a black brick. Why do you care. Because this brick is one of the world's first 240 watt USBC PD chargers, putting a light gaming laptop worth of power into the same standard used to charge your phone. Framework's the first computer company to ship a 240 watt PD laptop too. Thanks to the Framework Laptop 16's modular GPUs.As you can see, this 16 isn't quite maxing it out, but by plugging in a couple phones, we can make it to 220 watts, more than the company's previous 180 watt adapter c ...
