MSNBC· 2025-08-12 16:32
Andrew, the July su uh consumer price index was released moments ago. Couple questions. One, what did it show. And number two, did anybody get fired for it. Uh well, I'll take the second part first. Nobody fired yet.Uh inflation is creeping into uh the economy. I think that is uh the big lesson. Having said that, the market meaning the stock market taking most of this in stride in part really more than anything else because we now have another 90 days rather on China when it comes to the tariffs and I think ...

Bloomberg Television· 2025-08-12 16:11
A rise in the CPI on a month over month basis, bang on with consensus up 2/10 of a percent. The core is up 3/10 of a percent. We'll check that out in terms of three digits on a year over year basis, that takes us to 2.7% for headline and 4 to 3.1% for the core on a year over year basis. That's more than thought. So this must have been a very high 3/10 of a percent. US Core CPI Picks Up on Services
Bloomberg Television· 2025-08-12 16:06
The United States has the best government data in the world by a lot, and there are dedicated civil servants who literally go around the country checking prices in every community of every variable and making sure the data is as clean and reflective of what's really happening as they can. My textbooks say you're going to be nuts. You can't cut rates given a two or three ish three month annualized inflation.Do you see any sense of transitory in these statistics. I think we're in a new regime for inflation. I ...
Why there is 'no obvious reason' for lower interest rates
CNBC Television· 2025-08-12 16:00
Should rates be lower. It is difficult to make the case of that at the moment in my view because uncertainty about a future inflation. You know the so far the pass through of tariffs into higher prices has been very modest but we're still in early stages in the long list of issues regarding uncertainty.Inflation is high among that list. So that would be in line with what chairman Powell has been pointing to on data dependence in the course policy. You know the signs that there is this overwhelming weakening ...

The annual inflation rate held steady in July as President Donald Trump's tariffs had less of an impact on some consumer prices than forecasters expected, but the details had a few devils as the key "core" inflation gauge accelerated. https://t.co/7OPaF3hywp ...
