Group 1 - The Hong Kong government is committed to promoting the use of electric vehicles (EVs), emphasizing the importance of charging infrastructure for widespread adoption [1][2] - As of March 2025, nearly 100,000 parking spaces in Hong Kong will be equipped with charging facilities, including 11,180 public charging facilities, of which approximately 2,000 are fast and high-speed chargers [1] - The government plans to convert traditional gas stations into high-speed charging stations and install additional high-speed charging facilities [1] Group 2 - The "EV Residential Charging Easy Subsidy Scheme" was launched in October 2020 with a total funding of HKD 3.5 billion, with 72,400 applications approved as of April 2025 [1][2] - By the end of 2025, it is expected that around 77,000 parking spaces will have EV charging infrastructure installed, with the scheme projected to support approximately 140,000 existing private residential buildings by the end of the 2027-28 fiscal year [1][2] - The government has already approved over 93,700 parking spaces for new private developments to be equipped with EV charging infrastructure since 2011, with an estimate of over 200,000 private building parking spaces equipped by mid-2027 [2] Group 3 - The Chief Executive's 2024 Policy Address announced a HKD 300 million investment to launch a high-speed charging facility incentive program, aiming to provide 3,000 high-speed charging stations to support an additional 160,000 EVs [2] - Each newly installed high-speed charging station will receive a subsidy of HKD 100,000, with a maximum of HKD 20 million available per applicant, allowing for up to 200 charging stations [3] - The implementation details of the subsidy program are being finalized, with applications expected to open next month [3]
