Core Points - The Tongyu High-Speed Railway, connecting Nantong in Jiangsu to Ningbo in Zhejiang, has achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of the Fenhu Tunnel, marking the first tunnel to be completed along the entire line [1][3] - The Fenhu Tunnel spans 3,732 meters, with a shield section of 2,420 meters, and was excavated using a domestically produced large-diameter shield machine named "Hongchuan," which completed the task in just 204 days [3][5] - The new railway line will be 301 kilometers long, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and is expected to reduce travel time from Nantong to Ningbo to just one hour upon completion [3][7] Engineering and Technology - The "Hongchuan" shield machine utilized advanced real-time monitoring and posture adjustment techniques, successfully navigating various risk sources and achieving precise reception under extremely shallow cover conditions [5] - The machine features a sophisticated mud-water separation system, saving 228.4 tons of water for every meter excavated, and aims for zero leakage, zero discharge, and zero pollution [5] Regional Impact - The completion of the Tongyu High-Speed Railway will enhance connectivity with other major rail lines, such as the Beijing-Shanghai and Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Rail, playing a crucial role in developing the "Railway Triangle" and improving the regional transportation network [7]
