明嘉靖年间,劳氏先祖在芦荻丛中开荒定居,为铭记创业艰辛,将村落命名为"大芦"。近500年繁 衍生息,大芦村已发展成为以劳姓为主、15个姓氏和睦相处,人口超5000的富庶之乡,更以古宅、古 树、古楹联"三古"闻名遐迩。 车入大芦,迎面是一方半月形人工湖,枝繁叶茂的荔枝树、龙眼树环绕湖畔。隔湖相望,青砖灰 瓦、屋舍连云,倒映水中,如诗如画。这样的人工湖在大芦村不止一处。劳氏祖先建造宅院时,就地取 材,在宅基地前的洼地挖土,烧制砖瓦的同时筑塘蓄水,既便利宅中居民生活,又可营造依山傍水的风 水宝地。 沿湖而行,便来到四美堂。这是大芦劳氏的祖屋,由第一代先祖、明朝廪生劳经所建,因砌有镬耳 状封火墙,又称镬耳楼。参观镬耳楼,深深体会到什么叫"礼法森严":建筑布局主次分明,什么人住什 么房,从哪个门进出,走哪条巷道,都有规定,不能越界;即使仆人走的巷道,也严格按男左女右区 分,男仆的巷道又宽于女仆的。 镬耳楼、三达堂、双庆堂……建村至清末350多年间,劳氏家族先后建起9处宅院、1处宗祠。这些 古宅环拥着数座人工湖,互相守望,构成村落的骨肉肌理。不同的宅第风格迥异,从中可以窥见时代的 印记。而建于乾隆年间的东园别墅华丽恢宏, ...
